About this item

The Neumann U87 Ai is a studio-standard large-diaphragm condenser microphone, running on 48V phantom power and offering lower self-noise and higher output than earlier U87 versions. It switches between cardioid, omnidirectional and figure-8 patterns, with a warm, clear midrange that holds up well on vocals and speech even if the performer moves slightly. This set comes complete with Neumann's own EA 87 shock mount to isolate the mic from handling noise, housed in a premium wooden case for storage and transport.

Large-diaphragm FET condenser mic with 48V phantom power, in continuous production since 1967
Three selectable polar patterns: cardioid, omnidirectional and figure-8
Cardioid mode optimised for a linear, balanced frequency response with a signature full midrange
Omni pattern suited for room miking, figure-8 useful for mid/side stereo or vintage-style vocal takes
Includes Neumann's EA 87 shock mount to cut handling noise, plus a high-end wooden storage case
Favoured by broadcasters and vocalists, but versatile enough for most studio recording needs
