About this item

A large 21" wooden chess set made in the classic "Ambassador" style, with a hand-carved board of beech and birch and pieces shaped from hornbeam and sycamore wood. The board folds and locks shut with two brass clasps, and each piece has its own compartment inside for safe storage. Felt-bottomed, weighted pieces give it a solid, traditional feel, making it as much a display piece as a game set.
